The McKenzie river begins the flow in the glaciers and snowfields and ends in the mighty Willamette River. There is a strong population of wild redband rainbows, wild cutthroats, and a small population of bull trout as well. The McKenzie fly fishes well yearlong and has a catch and release requirement. Fly fishing for steelhead is productive as well and the heavy action picks up in the fall and stays good until winter.

LATEST MCKENZIE RIVER FLY FISHING REPORTS
|
Don't let the high water keep you from fishing. The afternoons have been good on dry flies on the lower McKenzie. Hendricks Bridge to Hayden Bridge is a great float. Today our 6 boats landed 3 steelhead along with many native and hatchery trout.
